Editor,
I have always paid my taxes. I have never had to ask for bus services for my family or grandchildren.
However, I now have a disabled grandson who cannot go to and from school. Unfortunately, because the schools are cutting back, my grandson is being denied bus service.
I am 90 years old and cannot walk him because he seems to feel that is a great time to do funny stunts. He ran across the street. I don't know how many drivers he gave a heart attack. He then proceeded to wave at me from across the street. That was fun to him, as if to say "See, it's not that dangerous!"
The two times he ran off on me, the police had to get involved to find him. Thankfully, they did find him quickly.
My eldest grandson goes to work. The other grandson studies late at night because it is quiet. There is no-one else who could help me at home. At the moment, the teacher assistant picks him up and brings him home. However, she spends a strenuous day at school. I don't feel I should be imposing on her like this.
I feel the bus service is being treated as an optional service, but it is not. If I had not been fortunate enough to have someone help me out, I would be having my grandson sitting at home. I would appreciate the restoration of this service. Please?!
