• Roses to the kind strangers: It is so reassuring to know there are good people willing to step in and help others on a moment's notice. Saturday, July 6th was hot rod Saturday in Cloverdale. On the way home in our 1929 Ford Model A, we unfortunately ran out of gas on Fraser Highway. Nowhere to pull over. Still half a block to the gas station. I, a lady of 74, and my gentleman friend of 84 lacked the manpower to push us up the slight grade. Immediately, and to our great relief, a couple and a young man both pulled over and pushed us to the gas station, chatting amicably and smiling as they left us cozied up to the pump. Thank you for your great kindness!
• A rainbow of beautiful, colourful roses to Annie Ohana. ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Schools is fortunate to have her as an employee given that she is truly a voice for children in the LGBTQ2S+ community. She deserves to be commended for her hard work and courage in the face of unforgiving criticism. These children have been oppressed enough as it is, so they deserve compassion and support. It's important to keep in mind that the purpose of SOGI 123 is to teach children that everyone is different and to be proud of who you are as a person. Rotten tomatoes to those who have sent derogatory hollow threats to Annie Ohana. Not acceptable.
• Gallons of rotten tomatoes to the coffee-hating decision-makers who closed the Tim Hortons location at Fraser Highway and 166th to make way for the SkyTrain station. There is now no reasonable food or beverage option for drive-through or within walking distance for the many people who frequent the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Sport and Leisure Centre, the Comfort Inn, the Rona Revy, JYSK, and the surrounding neighbourhood. Whoever is doing the planning should plan on another job because they made a horrible mess of this.
• Roses and thank you to ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Christian School for their kindness to all graduating students, who were called alphabetically correctly at the graduation ceremony. I remember in public school if a student struggled with school they were brought out at the end of the line at graduation — so humiliating for the student and parents. Lifelong hurts.
• I'd like to send a bouquet of roses to Lorraine for putting my driver's licence in the mail to me when I lost it in Langley.
