CANDIDATE: Jinny Sims, B.C. NDP
WHERE DO YOU LIVE: ÐÔÊӽ紫ý
ONE-SENTENCE BIO: I’m a teacher, a mother, and a grandmother. I have spent my career advocating for kids and families, and building stronger, more inclusive, and safer communities.
WHY SHOULD YOU BE ELECTED?
I’ve been talking to our neighbours and things are tough right now. Costs are high and there are challenges that come with a growing population.
It’s why the BC NDP is working for people in ÐÔÊӽ紫ý. We’ve hired 800 new family doctors in the last year. Construction for the new ÐÔÊӽ紫ý hospital is well underway, even after John Rustad and his government sold off the land.
Families are moving to our city because it’s a great place to live. So we need more schools. In ÐÔÊӽ紫ý-Panorama alone, the BC NDP has already added 1,950 seats in schools, and we're building more.
We’re making life more affordable – getting $1,000 back to your family. We’re building middle-class homes, and we’ll make it easier for first time homebuyers by financing 40% of the cost. John Rustad and the BC Conservatives will put all this at risk, they will make things better for the top 2%, while cutting healthcare and affordable housing.
I’m running because there’s still more to do and we can’t risk going backwards.
LIST THE TOP 3 PRIORITY ISSUES YOU WOULD ADDRESS IF ELECTED:
- Getting the new ÐÔÊӽ紫ý hospital built
- Adding more school spaces
- Helping first time home buyers

CANDIDATE: Bryan Tepper, B.C. Conservative Party
WHERE DO YOU LIVE: ÐÔÊӽ紫ý/Crescent Beach
ONE-SENTENCE BIO: I am a retired police officer, having transferred into ÐÔÊӽ紫ý in 2004. Having worked throughout the entire city I retired in charge of a Watch in District 3, Newton/Panorama.
WHY SHOULD YOU BE ELECTED?
As a former RCMP officer, my firsthand experience in law enforcement positions me uniquely to address the intertwined issues of crime, drugs, and rehabilitation. Throughout my career, I've witnessed the direct impact of drug-related crime on communities, understanding that effective drug policy requires both enforcement and compassionate rehabilitation.
I propose a balanced approach: enhancing law enforcement efforts to curb drug trafficking. However, true progress lies in prevention and rehabilitation. I advocate for rehabilitation centers, informed by global best practices, reducing recidivism through genuine recovery and reintegration.
Healthcare demands urgent reform. The current system is bogged down by bureaucracy, which delays patient care and frustrates healthcare professionals. I propose streamlining administrative processes to reduce overhead and redirect resources to where they're most needed – at the frontline. Attracting more doctors requires not just better compensation but also improving work environments and reducing administrative burdens. By enhancing efficiency and cutting red tape, we can make BC a more attractive place for medical professionals, ensuring quality healthcare for all.
Vote for me, and together, we'll build a safer, healthier British Columbia.
