A man was shot in North ÐÔÊӽ紫ý this week, an incident that still has police seeking details.

Police first were told the man was shot by passing car.

Now it appears that at about 5 p.m. Thursday, the man was shot in a residence in the 11900-block of 99 Avenue, and was being carried by friends down the street when a passing police car stopped them.

While the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Gang Task Force was present at the scene, police now say it was not gang-related.

"We've ruled out gang associations and we've ruled that it's not a drive by shooting," said RCMP Cpl. Drew Grainger. Police are currently focused on a residence, which may give them answers to what happened at the time the shooting occurred.

"Those enquiries our investigators are making are expected to take the majority of the day today," Grainger said Friday. Police have information that the victim had been at, or near, the residence voluntarily.

The 20-year-old victim was shot in the stomach and taken to a nearby hospital, with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the victim and the gunman were known to each other and the victim was also known to police. They will not say at this time whether drugs were involved.

The victim is not being cooperative.

The ÐÔÊӽ紫ý RCMP Serious Crimes Section is investigating.
