JUNOS Plaza Party in ÐÔÊӽ紫ý to hype Canada’s biggest night in music

The musical lineup for the single-day, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý-focused music festival will be announced later in February

The JUNO Awards hype train will be stopping in ÐÔÊӽ紫ý for a one-day Plaza Party on March 15, two weeks ahead of the Canadian music awards event in Vancouver.

Organizers of the free-admission festival promise some of Canada’s and ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s top musicians at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Civic Plaza, a Saturday stop on a six-city Let’s Hear it BC JUNO Tour featuring 30 artists on six stages, from 2 to 10 p.m., along with food trucks, exhibitors and other attractions.

No artists were announced Thursday (Jan. 30) during a launch event at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý City Hall, where Newton-based singer Karisma Deo and the country-music duo of Mark Ledlin and Dan Botch performed for a lunchtime crowd of mostly city hall employees.

The JUNOS Plaza Party will have a Main Stage outside city hall, 5X Art Party with South Asian DJs, family programming on a community stage and local musicians performing throughout the site, City Centre Library and Dominion restaurant at Civic Hotel. Some details are posted on .

Late last year the Vancouver JUNO Host Committee and City of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý reps began talks to plan the Plaza Party and tour, organized to bring "the spirit of the JUNOS to your hometown and showcase the incredible talent that thrives in all corners of our province," says Nate Sabine, Host Committee co-chair.

“ÐÔÊӽ紫ý has long been a vibrant epicentre for music, particularly South Asian music, nurturing incredible talent and shaping the sound of an entire generation," Sabine said. "This makes it a natural stop for the tour, especially in the year the JUNOS introduced the South Asian Music Recording of the Year category."

The musical lineup for JUNOS Plaza Party will be announced later in February.

Meantime, nominees for the 54th annual JUNO Awards will be announced Tuesday, Feb. 11 by CARAS, or Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

On March 30, Burnaby-raised pop crooner Michael Bublé will host and perform at the 2025 JUNO Awards show at Rogers Arena, Vancouver. Pop-punk band Sum 41 will also perform and be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and Live Nation Canada chairman Riley O’Connor will receive the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award.

A 15-time JUNO Award-winner, Bublé returns as a third-time host of Canada’s biggest night in music, live from his hometown. Event tickets are sold for $94 and up on , along with tickets for an "After Party" at the Commodore Ballroom in support of MusiCounts, following the CBC broadcast.

In September, some ÐÔÊӽ紫ý-area musicians and backers celebrated news from CARAS that a South Asian Music Recording of the Year award has been added for the 2025 JUNO Awards.

Last March, Punjabi-Canadian artist Karan Aujla, who once worked in ÐÔÊӽ紫ý as a longshoreman, took home the TikTok JUNO Fan Choice award.
