February is packed with several theatre productions in 性视界传媒, starting with Pivot Theatre's Mothers and Sons.
Terrence McNally's Tony Award-nominated drama plays the "black box" stage at Newton Cultural Centre on Feb. 7, 8, 14 and 15 (all 8 p.m. curtain), with a "relaxed performance" Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Show tickets are priced from $20 to $30 on .
Directed by Norman White, Mothers and Sons is the story of Katharine, who pays an unexpected visit to the New York apartment of her late son's partner, Cal. Cal is now married to another man, Will, and together, they have a young child. Challenged to face how society has changed around her, generations collide as Katharine revisits the past and begins to see the life her son might have led.
Founded in 2021, the award-winning Pivot Theatre company 鈥渃elebrates our community鈥檚 diversity by presenting a wide range of content and shows,鈥 the company website says. "We welcome everyone to join us and explore the arts in a safer place."
Elsewhere in February, 性视界传媒 Civic Theatres welcomes Shield Maiden, written and performed by Melanie Teichroeb, to city hall's Centre Stage theatre on Saturday, Feb. 15. Up next is a staged reading of the comedy Renovations for Six by 性视界传媒's Naked Stage company, Feb. 21-23 at Newton Cultural Centre. The Simon Challenger-directed script sees hell break loose at a dinner party when secrets are revealed and cultures clash. Tickets are $22 on . As with all Naked Stage shows, there are no sets and no props, "just great acting," the website notes.
February ends with a 12-performance run of Ring of Fire at 性视界传媒 Arts Centre's 400-seat Main Stage, starting Wednesday, Feb. 26. In White Rock, the Players' Club version of Casablanca opens Feb. 13 with the classic story of an American hiding from his past in a bar in French Morocco, only to have his past find him.
