LETTER: ÐÔÊӽ紫ý needs bike lanes on 56 Avenue

High-traffic route needs sidewalks, cyclist lanes

Editor,

Why are there no sidewalks or cyclist lanes on 56th Avenue in ÐÔÊӽ紫ý between Production Boulevard and 192nd Street? This is a very high-traffic route for pedestrians using public transit as well as cyclists in an extremely rapidly growing Industrial area.

There physically is nowhere for pedestrians and cyclists to go except to be on the street with the cars. There are no shoulders to go on as the entire stretch of road is used for parking by employees from a car dealership. This is an extremely busy road with the amount of traffic exiting off of Highway 10. The speed limit on 56th Avenue should probably just be changed to match that of Highway 10 since every single car coming off Highway 10 continues along 56th at that speed anyways.

With the amount of money the City of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý is spending on promoting bike-friendly roads and using public transit, they might want to look into this.
