Old Car Sunday in the Park is returning to Mission鈥檚 Fraser River Heritage Park on Sunday, June 16.
The Inaugural event, which took place on June 21, 1992, was so popular that the car show has become a Mission Father鈥檚 Day tradition.
The event was organized for many years by local car clubs, and notably, Don and Lilah Warren. In 2016 Don and Lilah made the difficult decision to retire from organizing this event and so it landed in the hands of Mission Firefighters Charitable Society.
鈥淲e are honoured to carry it on in its original location each Fathers Day,鈥 a spokesperson for the society said.
As well as a massive assortment of Classic and Custom Cars organizers pack the park with food trucks, a motoring themed marketplace and live music.
The show is free to attend and opens at 10 a.m. and closes at about 3:30 p.m.
Show cars begin staging in the park when the registration gates open at 7 a.m. Registration is $20 per car and includes a dash plaque for the first 1,000 cars.
鈥淣et proceeds from throwing this event end up in the hands of local causes and charities. The longest standing beneficiary of the car show has been Variety, the Children鈥檚 Charity and we have continued that tradition on as well.鈥
Fraser River Heritage Park is located at 7494 Mary St. in Mission. Admission is free and parking is by donation.
