Canadian Cameron Spalding captured the men鈥檚 crown at a snowboard slopestyle World Cup event Saturday.

Spalding, of Havelock, Ont., posted a winning score of 86.63 points. He finished just ahead of American Red Gerard (86.22) and German Noah Viktor (83.72).

Liam Brearley of Gravenhurst, Ont., finished fourth. Spalding became the fifth Canadian to win here.

鈥淚t鈥檚 unreal, I can鈥檛 believe it,鈥 he said. 鈥淭his event has so much history, and obviously the Canadians have done super well here over the years.鈥

Spalding also earned his second consecutive slopestyle win after capturing the season opener in Cardrona, N.Z. The 19-year-old Canadian went into Saturday鈥檚 final with the goal of enjoying himself.

鈥淚鈥檓 just always trying to have as much fun as possible,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 when I snowboard my best, that鈥檚 when everything clicks for me.鈥

鈥淥n a course like this, everything is so flowy and the course (features) work so well together.鈥

British teenager Mia Brookes won the women鈥檚 event, topping the field with a score of 84.86 points. New Zealand鈥檚 Zoi Sadowski Synnott (77.29) was second ahead of Japan鈥檚 Kokomo Murase (71.15).
