The Editor,

Re: 鈥溞允咏绱 Police Union wants councillor disqualified from voting on policing decision,鈥 the Now-Leader online.

Thank you for your work in covering this vital issue in 性视界传媒.

The ambivalent situation regarding city councillor Rob Stutt鈥檚 eligibility to vote does not help finding a satisfactory solution. It is vital that the ethics commissioner makes a decision before the final 性视界传媒 policing vote.

I cannot understand the reluctance of the NDP and Mayor Brenda Locke to settle this situation once and for all with a binding referendum. There is a real possibility that the provincial government will lose patience and force a solution using extraordinary powers. But this will solve nothing and keep the situation in political limbo.

Mayor Locke is not going to budge. The thin margin by which she won the election does not justify her intransigence. We need someone who is willing to listen to the voice of the people.

Only a referendum can move us forward.
