A two-year-old fell out of a second-storey window in ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Thursday afternoon and was evacuated by air ambulance to hospital with undisclosed injuries.

According to ÐÔÊӽ紫ý RCMP, the incident happened just after 2 p.m. in a townhouse complex in the Sullivan Heights neighbourhood at 151 Street and 62A Avenue.

The child – who was with a caregiver – managed to push through the screen of an open window on the second floor of the townhouse.

As a precautionary measure, the child was taken by air ambulance to BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver, however, the victim was conscious and breathing while the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý RCMP were on the scene.

Police said as per protocol, the Ministry of Children and Family Development was called about the incident, but that on the surface, the fall appeared to be an accident.

The identity and gender of the child have not been released.
