Police seized 87 kilograms of suspected MDMA during a traffic stop in North Delta on Sept. 6, 2024.

Police seized a significant amount of drugs following a traffic stop in North Delta early last month.

In a press release issued Thursday morning (Oct. 17), the Delta Police Department said members of its Patrol Support Team conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle in North Delta on Sept. 6, resulting in the seizure of 87 kilograms (192 pounds) of suspected MDMA.

Police say the vehicle's occupants were initially arrested then released at the scene pending further investigation. No further information about the incident was included in the release.

"This significant seizure underscores the prevalence of high-level drug trafficking activities affecting British Columbia, including the community of Delta," the department said in its press release.

"The Delta Police Department along with our policing partners continue to combat the illicit drug trade as we work to increase community safety and well-being."
