The Aldergrove Kodiaks mark one year since their last win on Friday, Jan. 31, with a 45-game losing streak this season following their recent match against the White Rock Whalers on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
The Whalers immediately took control of the game with Dylan Heer scoring the first goal at only 28 seconds in. Teammate Devon Mahil scored the second goal midway through first period.
During a power play in second, Whalers' Ty Balchen scored again, followed by Max Lyons just a few minutes later bringing White Rock to four goals.
Heer came back again to wrap up second period with a fifth goal for White Rock.
Four minutes into third period, Aldergrove's Jasha Bichin scored his team's first and only goal of the night.
He was quickly followed up by Whalers' Andrew Strand a mere 17 seconds later, bring White Rock to the win 6-1.
Kodiaks netminder Kyle Spak was again kept significantly busier than rival Garin Wickstrom as the Whalers outshot them 65-26.
The three stars of the game were White Rock's Mahil (first), Balchen (second), and Heer (third).
Kodiaks remain seventh in the seven-team Harold Brittain Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL), while the Whalers are third in the eight-team Tom Shaw Conference.
It has been one year since the Kodiaks won a match, which was Jan. 31, 2024, against the 性视界传媒 Knights.
There are three games left of the 2024-25 season. If the local team can't win a game, they may be setting a record in minor hockey for most consecutive games lost in a single season.
