Grey Cup Festival bands help bring football party to Vancouver Nov. 10-17

Sam Roberts Band will perform during the 2024 Grey Cup Festival in Vancouver, in a Coors Light Saturday Night Concert on Nov. 16 at Vancouver Convention Centre (West).

Nearly two dozen bands/artists will perform at free and ticketed events during the in Vancouver this fall, ahead of the big game Nov. 17 at BC Place Stadium.

The week-long festival will start Nov. 10 with "outstanding" corporate support, according to Riley Wiwchar, the festival's executive director.

“It’s been a decade since we last hosted Grey Cup in Vancouver," noted Duane Vienneau, festival co-chair and president of BC Lions, "so many people in B.C. and the Lower Mainland haven’t yet experienced the passion, energy and charm of a Grey Cup Festival in their city."

Ticket sales start Sept. 24 on 

Sam Roberts Band, Bif Naked and Felix Cartal lead an all-Canadian lineup of concert performers, along with The Trews, Tebey, Dear Rouge, Dehli 2 Dublin, En Karma, Chad Brownlee, John Welsh, Orchard Sky and several others artists announced Tuesday (Sept. 17).

They'll perform at both indoor and outdoor sites during the festival, under the tagline  

The west building of Vancouver Convention Centre is the main venue for ticketed events, including the Coors Light Team Party Headquarters, CFL Awards, Business Summit, CFLAA Legends Luncheon, Gala Dinner, Spirit of Edmonton Breakfast, Athletes in Action Grey Cup Breakfast, Coors Light Saturday Night Concert and Indoor Tailgate. On game day at the stadium, the Lordco Auto Parts Block Party is the festival's only other ticketed event.

The festival's first ticketed event, the Nov. 14 CFL Awards, will be hosted by TSN's Kate Beirness and Milt Stegall. Tickets are $175 plus taxes and fees.

A day later, a Gala Dinner "will bring together players, fans, and dignitaries for an exclusive evening of entertainment, food, and fellowship," for $375 a ticket.

Sam Roberts Band will rock the Coors Light Saturday Night Concert on Nov. 16, with The Trews opening. Tickets are $75 plus taxes and fees.

Also announced is a performance by Vancouver-based EDM artist Felix Cartal, to headline a Kick-off Party at Save-On-Foods Street Festival, 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Cartal will be first among 22 artists to take to the Payworks Entertainment Stage for free outdoor live performances from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the street festival, to take over Canada Place Way (between Thurlow and Burrard streets) from Nov. 14-16.

Previously announced, the Jonas Brothers will headline the Twisted Tea Grey Cup Halftime Show at BC Place.
