The Abbotsford Canucks celebrate a goal against the Henderson Silver Knights on Friday (Nov. 22).

After averaging just 2.6 goals per game over the first month and a half of the season, the Abbotsford Canucks finally burst out with a big scoring night on Friday (Nov. 22).

The Canucks erupted for seven goals on the Henderson Silver Knights in a 7-1 rout.

The offensive output was the most the team has scored on the road since Nov. 26, 2023 when they beat the Calgary Wranglers 7-2.

Tristen Nielsen opened the scoring at 10:09 of the first after being set up by Nils 脜man. It was just his second on the season.

Abbotsford made it 2-0 at 13:21 when Ty Mueller connected on the power play. The rookie forward now has three goals and has become an important offensive player for Abbtosford early into his pro career. 脜man and Kirill Kudryavtsev picked up the helpers.

Henderson got on the board at 16:32 when Riley McKay beat Canucks starting goalie Ty Young with a high shot that floated in. Canucks captain Chase Wouters made it two power play goals for Abbotsford when he scored with the man advantage at 18:08. 脜man and Nielsen picked up the assists on that goal.

The Canucks kept pouring on the offence in the second period with goals from Ty Glover (8:34), John Stevens (16:15) and Danila Klimovich (18:14). Klimovich now leads the team with seven goals, it's a big leap from last season that saw him record just four points in 24 games.

Kudryavtsev scored the lone goal in the third and the rookie rearguard now has an impressive eight points in 14 games. He was named the game's first star for his efforts and it was his first-ever three-point night in the AHL. 脜man also added three points and Nielsen, Mueller, Stevens and Wouters all had two points.

Young made his third straight start in goal and was made 29 saves for his second AHL win. The Canucks outshot Henderson 42-30 and Nielsen led all players with seven shots on goal.

The game also featured the returns of forward Jonathan Lekkerim盲ki and defenceman Mark Friedman. Lekkerim盲ki was sent back to Abbotsford after some time in Vancouver, while Friedman played his first game since suffering an injury on Oct. 29. Max Sasson joined the Vancouver Canucks in Ottawa and he's expected to make his NHL debut on Saturday (Nov. 23).

Forward Ben Berard was recalled from the ECHL's Kalamazoo Wings, but did not dress on Friday.

Abbotsford's record improves to 8-8-0-1 with the win and the club is riding a mini-two game win streak.

The two teams meet again in Nevada on Saturday at 6 p.m.
