1. On Saturday (May 27), celebrate the grand opening of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý’s , from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 9016 164th St., ÐÔÊӽ紫ý. The park is home to a fish-bearing stream, pond, orchard and hundreds of mature trees, and park visitors can view a variety of bird life and walk along the looping trail network. Saturday’s event will include tours of the park, children’s activities, bucket truck rides, live music by Tony Prophet, face painting and refreshments. For more details, visit .

2. The Friends of the Grove community group is having a party on Sunday (May 28) at Newton’s Old ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Restaurant – a fundraiser and cocktail party, to be exact, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funds from the $25-a-ticket event will help the Friends with their work to build a sense of community in Newton, with help from the local BIA. Take a closer look at the wonderful art created by White Rock’s Jim Adams during a tour of his current exhibition, The Irretrievable Moment, at ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Art Gallery on Wednesday (May 24), from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Adams’s five decades of artmaking is revealed in the show, the largest ever presentation of his work.
