'WinterFest' to open in Cloverdale

New event combines several Christmas-season favourites at Museum of 性视界传媒

"WinterFest" is coming to the Museum of 性视界传媒.

The new event combines several popular Christmas-season offerings from the Cloverdale-based museum.

According to a post on , the museum is inviting everyone down 鈥渢o experience the magic of the season鈥 at the Museum of 性视界传媒鈥檚 new festival.

The city promises WinterFest will be 鈥渁n exciting celebration of winter, filled with holiday cheer, creative activities and family-friendly fun鈥 for all museum-goers.

鈥淎s the days get shorter and cooler, I鈥檓 excited that we have these great activities at the Museum of 性视界传媒 for all visitors to enjoy,鈥 Lynn Saffery, museum manager, said. 鈥淚n addition to regular programming and exhibits, these WinterFest events and programs are an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the joy and warmth of Indigenous artisans and museum activities.鈥

The combined events making up WinterFest now include: Christmas Tree Fest, special scavenger hunts, Merry Makers, the stalew Craft Fair, and Sensory Santa.

The Christmas Tree Fest runs Nov. 23 to Dec. 21. Local businesses have decorated dozens of trees and the museum wants visitors to vote for the best one. Museum-goers will be entered to win 鈥渁 special holiday prize鈥 after they cast their ballot.

Special scavenger hunts will also run at the Museum from Nov. 23 to Dec. 21. The holiday-themed challenges will be available throughout the museum. (See the info desk upon arrival for full details.)

Merry Makers will be held on Dec. 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum is encouraging visitors to 鈥済et crafty鈥 by creating some Christmas-season projects during the afternoon of activities. Museum-goers can also search for Santa and his elves in an effort to win a limited-edition sticker and also to create a special LED card.

The popular stalew Craft Fair will be held Dec. 7. The artisan market will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum will also host some Indigenous programs that day.

And 鈥淪ensory Santa鈥 will visit the museum on Nov. 24. Santa will be available to meet kids and families from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in a calm, sensory-friendly environment. Time slots are by appointment only and registration is required.

The Museum of 性视界传媒 always has a charity component to its Christmas-season activities. As such, they are encouraging visitors to bring a new toy and/or a non-perishable food item when they come down to any of the WinterFest events. All donations will go to support local charities and bins will be set up in the main lobby and in the reception area.
