North Delta artisan group, elementary school PAC hosting holiday craft market

The North Delta Artisan & Gift Market is once again teaming up with the Sunshine Hills Elementary PAC to host their annual Holiday Craft Market, this year on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Admission is free, with 90 per cent of the market's vendor fee will be split between the school's Parent Advisory Committee and the North Delta Rotary Club's Starfish Pack Program.

North Delta Artisan & Gift Market is  group of more than 40 local crafters, artists and artisans that formed online in November of 2020 as means to sell their works after COVID restrictions put a stop to their usual points of sale such as craft and holiday markets.

The group is comprised of more than 40 talented North Delta artisans who make quality and sell their products locally many at various markets during the year throughout the Lower Mainland.

This year's Holiday Craft Market at Sunshine Hills Elementary will feature 35 vendors selling a wide array of locally-produced art and crafts 鈥 everything from apothecary to artwork, candles, cards, clothing, dolls and stuffies, flowers, giftware, honey and beeswax products, jewellery, knitting and crochet, mending and clothing repair, paper quilling, personal and home products, photography, pottery, felted soaps, sewing products, wineglasses and ornaments, woodcraft and more.

For families, Cici Face Painting will be on hand to adorn attendees with holiday designs for $2, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there to pose for photos (free of charge, but bring your own camera).

If you get hungry Ruby's Bakery and How Sweet it is Cakes BC will be offering baked goods including macarons and holiday treats, and there will be a snack stand, Beavertails, and the famous Pork Mafia food trailer.

The first 150 people through the door will receive a reuseable shopping bag, and there will be raffles for prizes including a handcrafted lap quilt, a small 鈥淕rinch鈥 tree, a $75 gift certificate for Christmas baking from How Sweet it is Cakes BC. Raffle tickets are $2 each, with all proceeds going to stock North Delta's Nick鈥檚 Nooks free food pantries.

The market runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sunshine Hills Elementary, 11285 Bond Blvd. in North Delta.

Earlier this month, the North Delta Artisan & Gift Market teamed up with the Sunshine Hills Community Facebook group and over 50 local businesses for the groups' fifth annual online silent auction benefiting Deltassist's Christmas Programs and the Nick's Nooks pantries.

Forty members of the artisan market, various Sunshine Hills residents and the participating businesses donated more than 150 items and $950 in cash, and the auction brought in a grand total of $10,013 鈥  $5,006.50 for each for Deltassist and Nick's Nooks.

The five auctions together have raised over $38,000.
