With 23 labour and delivery hospitals in the running, B.C. Women鈥檚 Hospital in Vancouver is the betting favourite at 3.50. A $10 bet could return $35. However, the hospital hasn鈥檛 welcomed the first baby of the year since 2017. Last year鈥檚 first baby was delivered at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, which is listed at 12.00 this year. Bets on the birth hospital will close at 6 a.m. on Dec. 31, 2024.

PlayNow is also taking wagers on 2025鈥檚 most popular baby names in B.C., with Olivia (3.00) leading the list of girl names for another year. Emma and Sophia (6.00) and Charlotte (8.00) are other contenders, while newcomers like Amelia, Ava, and Isla (10.00) are gaining popularity.

For boy names, Noah and Oliver (4.00) remain favourites, but Liam and Theodore (5.00) are close. Jack and Lucas (10.00) and Ethan and Leo (12.00) are potential frontrunners. Bets on baby names will remain open until Jan. 31, 2025.
