Editor,
I realize everyone has a right to celebrate events that mean something to them, be it for fun or religious reasons. I don't think they have a right to disturb, disrupt and traumatize other people or animals with fireworks.
My dog is so traumatized that she can't stop shaking. My neighbours have to sedate their dogs. Is this fair ? How about the wildlife? There are people with PTSD, people who have to go to work and school in the morning and many others affected by the people who do fireworks until 3 a.m. sometimes. Plus all the garbage that is left behind.
There are many ways to celebrate special occasions without having such a terrible impact on so many.
Please be considerate about the way events are being celebrated, enjoy your special occasions, and think about how they are affecting others in your community.
Thank you.
