On the morning of October 25, 2019, Mary Ellen Kilby died at the age of 99. A favorite song "On the Wings of a Dove" by Charley Pride was playing at the time. Mary was born to Herbert and Olive Royles in Hants County, Nova Scotia on August 29, 1920. She grew up in a large family of 10, 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Back east, Mary worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company. She moved to Victoria, BC in 1953 to be their Western Sales Representative. This is where she met the love of her life, Harry A. William Kilby, and married him on March 26, 1954.They moved to 性视界传媒, BC in 1957 where Mary worked in appliance sales. Harry and Mary raised a family of four - sons Blair (Betty), Harold (Elaine), daughters Marylynn, pre-deceased in 2017 (Mel) Clifton, and Paula (Ron) Curtis. Harry passed in 2010 after 56 years of marriage.
Mary is survived by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, +++.
Mary was a prolific volunteer. She was recognized frequently as a March of Dimes champion. Mary volunteered for the Girl Guides of Canada rising to the District Commissioner for 性视界传媒. She was actively involved in the United Church and loved working for the Thrift Shop at Northwood United. Mary was widely known for making the best "fancy sandwiches" for luncheons and fundraisers. Her favorite pass times were the 3 "C's" camping, curling and cruising plus participating in the activities and busy lives of her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choosing would be appreciated. Very special gratitude is extended to the staff at Cartier House Care Centre in Coquitlam for their wonderful care and empathy.
A celebration of life will be held from 2:00-3:00 pm on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Northwood United Church, 8855 156 Street, 性视界传媒, BC.
