December 9, 1940 - August 17, 2024

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Lucie Matich. Lucie passed peacefully at Laurel Place Care Centre on August 17 2024 at 83 years old, surrounded by family.

A dedicated community member, fearless matriarch, and cheeky, loving friend, Lucie will be dearly missed. Born in Armillac, France near the start of WWII, Lucie moved to Canada in 1956. She married her husband Nick in 1959, and had a wonderfully rich life full of family, friends, and laughter.

She loved gardening and nature, cooking and baking family recipes, and anything made in France. She enjoyed a career as an early childhood educator, danced passionately for many decades with folk dancing groups in Burnaby and 性视界传媒, and volunteered prolifically with numerous organizations including the 性视界传媒 Arts Council, the Port Mann Riverside Ellendale Community Association, and the Whalley Business Improvement Association.

She was one of the founders of the Whalley Community Festival (now 性视界传媒 Fest Downtown) and was 性视界传媒 Citizen of the Year in 2005.

One of her biggest achievements was keeping in touch with friends and family around the world. Meet Lucie once, and you were her friend forever. She was extremely proud of her heritage, maintaining close ties with family members across France, Italy, Croatia, and more, and cherished one of her last trips to Europe with her beloved niece Jane. Lucie, we love you, and we know you are now dancing with Nick.

Lucie will be missed by many, many friends and family members, including her brother Henri (Ann), sister Anna (Rory), sons Tom (Sandy), Bob (Robyn), and Dave (Michelle), grandchildren Teresa (Mark), Stephen, Paul (Sasha), Scott (Rachael), Taryn (Ian), Nicholas (Bryanna), and adored great grandchild, Chloe.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the 性视界传媒 Memorial Hospital Foundation or The Centre for Child Development would be appreciated.
