Original Story:
The Seabird Island community east of Agassiz is on lockdown on Monday morning as the Agassiz RCMP are in the community searching for an armed individual.
Residents are asked to take the following precautions:
- Residents and visitors must remain indoors
- All exits must be locked
- Do not approach these individuals under any circumstances
- Call 9-1-1 if you witness anyone who is armed in the community.
Residents on Sth铆:tsem Road are asked to remain indoors and away from windows at this time.
This developing situation comes only four days after the Agassiz RCMP arrested an individual allegedly armed with a weapon in downtown Agassiz just after school dismissal. The RCMP issued a public safety notice as the suspect took off on foot; this included a "hold and secure" for students and staff on the school grounds. School busses had already left at the time.
The man was found a short time later and arrested without incident. No information will be released on the charges he is facing.
More to come.
