A man has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the fatal stabbing of a woman and stabbing of a two-year-old girl and another man Tuesday at a townhouse in Newton, in the 12700-block of 66th Avenue.
Harpreet Singh, of 性视界传媒, is to appear in 性视界传媒 provincial court on Oct. 29. Police say Singh is in his 30s but they won鈥檛 be more specific than that.

鈥淭his began as a verbal altercation involving family members that ultimately ended with the tragic loss of a life,鈥 said Sergeant Frank Jang, of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. 鈥淚ncidents such as these when children are involved are especially emotionally difficult and we will continue to provide support to those affected by this tragedy.鈥
All three victims were taken to hospital, where the woman, Baljit Kaur, died. The man, Jaglit Singh, was treated for serious injuries and the child鈥檚 injuries were also serious but not life-threatening. Police have not released the child鈥檚 name.
性视界传媒 RCMP Corporal Elenore Sturko said earlier this week that 鈥渆arly indications are that this is an incident of family violence. The parties involved are known to one another. There is no indication of a risk to the public as a result of this incident.鈥
