Two men are in custody pending charges after the Abbotsford Police Department鈥檚 gang suppression unit executed a search warrant in the 2100 block of Beaver Street in Central Abbotsford Wednesday evening.
At approximately 6:25 p.m. the unit, with assistance from MIERT, the Municipal Integrated Emergency Response Team, kicked in the door of a residence, threw in a 鈥渇lash bang鈥 distraction device and entered guns drawn.
鈥淲e took into custody a 40-year-old and a 28-year-old man as well as seizing a shotgun, a small quantity of crack cocaine and over $1,000 cash,鈥 said Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald.
He said the operation was completed without incident.
"A distractionary device was deployed because our intel told us there was, possibly, a large dog on scene."
He said the device was used to ensure that there were no difficulties with or for the dog.
While no charges have yet been filed, MacDonald said police are anticipating possession for the purpose of trafficking and potentially weapons-related charges will be filed.
The suspects and the home were known to police.
"If you put yourself on the radar of the gang suppression unit, you don't come off until either you change your ways, you leave town, or you're arrested."
