Driver sought after South ÐÔÊӽ紫ý crash

ÐÔÊӽ紫ý RCMP seeking driver after two men fled scene of collision

Police are looking for the driver of an SUV that struck a parked van in South ÐÔÊӽ紫ý early Wednesday morning.

ÐÔÊӽ紫ý RCMP confirmed the accident on 17 Avenue just east of 148 Street, took place at around 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday (Aug. 7).

A nearby resident reported the silver Mercedes GLE had been speeding eastbound on 17 Avenue and had just run the stop sign at 148 Street, when it struck a white Mercedes Sprinter van parked outside a residence.

Police said officers responding to the scene discovered the SUV, which had sustained extensive damage, on its side in the road.  

Witnesses told police that two males had been seen climbing out of the wreckage of the SUV. They fled on foot, before officers and an ambulance arrived at the scene.

Police confirmed that investigation is continuing to identify the driver.
