Rich Coleman has decided against running for mayor of 性视界传媒.
鈥淚t was a personal thing,鈥 Coleman told The Times Tuesday.
鈥淚t came down to this. I don鈥檛 think I want to do it.鈥
Coleman, a grandfather of four, said he made his decision following a family get-together on Sunday.
鈥淚t鈥檚 nice to be wanted, but sometimes you have to listen to your feelings.鈥
He believes he would have been able to do a good job as mayor, but he didn鈥檛 think his heart would be in it.
鈥淭he problem was, was I going to bring my own passion to the table? Coleman said, 鈥渁nd I found that I wasn鈥檛.鈥
Part of it was a preference for working in his own community rather than 性视界传媒, Coleman said.
鈥淚鈥檓 a Langley guy.鈥
Coleman said a poll conducted by the people urging him to run showed he would have been leading the race for 性视界传媒 mayor if he ran.
鈥淚 said (to the pollster), ask the toughest questions you can ask about Rich Coleman,鈥 the Langley East Liberal MLA said.
For now, he said, he plans to focus on his job as provincial representative of his home town.
鈥淚鈥檝e got an MLA鈥檚 job to complete, and we鈥檒l see,鈥 Coleman said.
Last month, the MLA confirmed he鈥檇 been approached about running for mayor of 性视界传媒 and said he would give the idea 鈥渇air consideration.鈥
Some people spoke to him before he left for a three-week vacation.
鈥淎t that time, I didn鈥檛 really give it a lot of consideration. When I got back from holidays, a number of people came and sat down with me and wanted to talk about various things and this was one of them.鈥
Speculation that Coleman might run for the mayor鈥檚 job in 性视界传媒 began shortly after 性视界传媒 Mayor Linda Hepner announced in April that she would not be seeking re-election, ending three decades on council.
