Learning new skills, on a full-time or part-time basis, is one of the best ways to prepare yourself for the next step in your working life, says Gurpal Dhaliwal, President of .

鈥淩oughly 95 per cent of our students gain employment within two months of graduating,鈥 he says, adding that figure is even larger in some of the college鈥檚 programs.

Since 2012, Western Community College has trained community members to step right into professional careers. in 性视界传媒, South 性视界传媒 and Abbotsford, with courses in 11 different areas of study and 40 programs starting throughout the year.

Not only does WCC have very affordable tuition fees, it is accredited by Education Quality Assurance (EQA), Student AidBC and Designated BC Private Training Institutions Branch and can help launch you into your new career.

Here are some other exciting things happening at Western Community College:

  1. Join the health care ranks: Given the Lower Mainland鈥檚 aging population and increasing care needs, Health Care Assistant continues to be . With the college鈥檚 flexible schedule, you can complete the courses in 24 weeks (full-time) or 37 weeks, attending part-time in the evenings or on weekends.
  2. in demand: Training in this busy, 40-week program happens at the college鈥檚 South 性视界传媒 campus, where students receive hands-on training and preparation for the National Dental Assistant Examining Board. 鈥淲estern Community College is the only school in British Columbia with an on-site clinic providing a full range of treatments to the public. Upon completion of the program students will be able to perform the duties as outlines by the Certified Dental Surgeons of British Columbia鈥 Dhaliwal says.
  3. Positive job prospects: The college鈥檚 enjoys a placement rate of nearly 100 per cent, Dhaliwal says. The 28-week (full-time) program gets you ready to join the Lower Mainland鈥檚 fast-growing area of pharmacy work.
  4. Learn about the law: The is one of WCC鈥檚 newest courses, a 74-week program that prepares you for a challenging career as a paralegal or legal administrative assistant.

The wide range of occupations students train for at offer good careers, in many cases with opportunities for advancement, Dhaliwal says. And with the college accredited by the B.C. Private Training Institutions Branch, some credits are transferable, which means you can work for a while then study for a degree at university or college. 鈥淭heir work in the field can be a good stepping stone for a lot of other careers,鈥 he says.
