Holy Cross, Fraser Heights win Goodwill Classic titles in all-ÐÔÊӽ紫ý tourney

ÐÔÊӽ紫ý firefighters host, organize and support the Classic every January

Holy Cross and Fraser Heights school teams were division winners at the 23rd ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Firefighters’ Senior Girls Goodwill Classic on Saturday (Jan. 11) at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary.

Twenty-three teams competed in the all-ÐÔÊӽ紫ý tournament, which featured a great week of basketball and hard-fought battles for the championships in the two divisions.

Holy Cross beat Tweedsmuir 79-70 for the Axe division crown, while Fraser Heights topped Sullivan Heights 42-29 for the Ladder championship.

Since 2001, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý firefighters have hosted, organized and supported the Goodwill Classic every January. Girls teams from across ÐÔÊӽ紫ý compete in the week-long tournament, which concluded Saturday with a three-point contest and two division final games.
