About 22,000 street trees and 1,600 park trees will get some tender loving care in 性视界传媒 this year.

性视界传媒 city council has awarded a $484,500 seven-month contract to White Star Property Services for shade tree base maintenance services, on recommendation of the parks, recreation & culture department beginning June 1

Laurie Cavan, general manager of the department, noted in a corporate report that tree bases are installed around street and park trees to protect the from 鈥渕echanical damage鈥� caused by mowers and line trimmers, and also help them retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Also, tree bases 鈥� including ornamental grates 鈥� are installed around trees that were planted in 鈥渉ard landscape鈥� areas like sidewalks and plazas.

鈥淭hese bases are maintained regularly to manage risk issues related to trip hazards. Managed tree bases also improve the aesthetic appearance of trees in high profile locations such as arterial roads and public buildings,鈥� Cavan explained.
