PHOTOS & VIDEO: Fire displaces residents of ÐÔÊӽ紫ý house

No word yet on a cause of the fire, fought by 16 firefighters

Residents of a Newton house are displaced following a fire Thursday afternoon (Dec. 5).

Smoke filled a two-storey house in the 13500-block of 60A Avenue, ÐÔÊӽ紫ý, at around 5 p.m., according to a freelance photographer on the scene.

Crews used multiple hose lines to contain the fire within 30 minutes. Extensive damage was caused, but it appears that nobody was seriously injured, the freelancer says.

One neighbour said as many as 20 people lived in the building, but that number is not confirmed.

No word yet on a cause of the fire, fought by 16 firefighters transported to the scene in five trucks.
