IHIT investigating killing of woman Sunday in Maple Ridge

Public assistance being sought as investigators delve into Lower Mainland homicide case

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in to lead a homicide investigation into the death of a woman near Maple Ridge Park on Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on July 21, Ridge Meadows RCMP responded to reports of an unidentified female who was bleeding in the area of 232 Street and 132 Avenue in Maple Ridge.

According to Ridge Meadows RCMP, police attended the scene and observed a woman who had sustained what they called "serious injuries."

BC Emergency Health Services and Maple Ridge fire department also attended the scene and performed life-saving measures, which Mounties reported were "ultimately unsuccessful. At approximately 3:25 p.m., the woman was pronounced dead on scene."

Ridge Meadows RCMP investigational support team and serious crimes unit also attended.

"There is no information to suggest there are threats to public safety at this time," said Ridge Meadows RCMP's media section.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation.
