A new electric bus for residents of 性视界传媒's PICS Assisted Living was funded by provincial and regional health authorities.
The "green" gift, initially promised in December 2023, was delivered in October, in time for local Diwali celebrations in the city.
The addition of the electric bus at PICS will significantly improve the quality of life for senior residents of the facility in Newton (12075 75A Ave.), according to Satbir S. Cheema, president and CEO of .
鈥淭his generous gift will significantly enhance the mobility of our beloved seniors," he said. "With this electric bus, residents will have greater opportunities for community engagement and social participation, allowing them to enjoy outings and activities that enrich their lives."
Cheema is seen in a video about the bus arrival on PICS Society's Youtube channel.
Cheema said PICS Society is grateful to Premier David Eby and Adrian Dix, former health minister, "for their continuous support."
On Sept. 5 in Cloverdale, Cheema was among dignitaries during a sod-turning for PICS' Guru Nanak Diversity Village, a long-term care facility to incorporate 鈥淪outh Asian cultural values, traditions and beliefs鈥 into day-to-day operations, with both South Asian cuisine and western meals for residents.
There will be 125 beds in the three-storey facility when it opens in 2026 at 6471 175A St., 性视界传媒.
In 2022, 175A in Newton was given the honorary name Guru Nanak Village Way, where PICS Assisted Living is located.
