ÐÔÊӽ紫ý council has approved more than $20 million in piping and sewerline contracts in a little over a month, with the most recent being $2,987,252.63 for Clearway Construction Inc. to expand the district energy piping system. 

This was approved Dec. 2, with a spending limit set at $3,300,000.

Since Nov. 7, that makes for $20,711,736.92 in contracts and $228,800,000 in spending limits, running 5,840 metres all told.

Thisinvolves the installation of roughly 500 metres of insulated steel pipe, service connections, a leak detection system and communication conduit at 97A Avenue and 137A Street, 132 Street and 105 Avenue, and along 105 Avenue between City Parkway to 135A Street.

Construction will begin in January to be completed next August and run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

On Nov. 18 council approved a contract of more than $10 million for Clearway Construction Inc. to install a trunk drainage main and replace 2,440 metres of aging and undersized drainage and sanitary sewers in Whalley, Guildford and Panorama.

That work is slated for Ellendale Drive (148 Street to Glen Avon Drive); 111A Avenue (Dumbarton Road to 148 Street); 111 Avenue (146 Street to 147A Street); 110A Avenue (146A Street to 147B Street); 110 Avenue (146 Street to 146A Street); 146A Street (110 Avenue to 111 Avenue); 147A Street (110A Avenue to 111A Avenue); 5439 144A Street/14428 Ridge Crescent Road (located within municipal right-of-way); and 122 Street (102A Avenue to the Metro Vancouver main).

The contract permits construction from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and is to be completed by Spring 2026.

On Nov. 7, council  approved a $7,645,220.10 contract for Complete Utility Contractors Ltd. to construct roughly 2,900 metres of sanitary sewer forcemains for Bear Creek and Quibble Creek.

Construction will be at 134 Street from 102 Avenue to 94A Avenue. Two pipes will be constructed in a shared trench, through Holland Park, which hosts events throughout the year, to be completed in the Spring with a road closure along 134 Street required to facilitate the construction.
