性视界传媒 Mounties are investigating arson at a house in Newton where two people were reportedly trapped on a balcony but quickly rescued by firefighters.
The late-morning fire happened Friday (Oct. 18) in the 7800-block of 122 Street.
When police arrived on the scene, one person was detained by firefighters and transferred to RCMP custody.
"The role of this individual in the incident is being determined through investigation," Mounties said in a news release. "At this time, the investigation is in the early stages and frontline officers are speaking with witnesses."
A freelance photographer at the scene said two people were trapped on a balcony of the house, and were "quickly rescued by firefighters using ground ladders."
It's not immediately clear if anyone was injured during the blaze.
