'The Game's Afoot' stars ÐÔÊӽ紫ý actor as witty theatre critic in dinner-theatre show

ÐÔÊӽ紫ý-based singer/actor Larissa Dawn co-stars in , which on Sept. 11 kicks off the fall season of dinner-theatre shows at's stage in Langley.

Dawn will get laughs as the fierce, vengeful, amorous and delightful Daria Chase, a self-made New York theatre critic, in Ken Ludwig's popular mystery-comedy, directed by Simon Challenger.

It's a fast-paced and funny whodunit set in December 1936. Broadway star William Gillette, famous for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, invites his fellow cast members to his Connecticut mansion for a holiday weekend. When one of the guests is murdered, Gillette must don his Holmes persona to track down the killer before they strike again.

"We're excited to offer this cleverly written and highly entertaining show to our community," said Reg Parks, TIC's artistic director. "Our cast and crew have worked incredibly hard to bring this fast paced story to life with all of its unique twists and turns, and we can't wait to share it with our audience."

Other actors in the show are Jason Boe (as Simon Bright), Jessica Coates (Madge Geisel), Joanne Giampa (Martha Gillette), Ryan Johnson (William Gillette), Dovreshin MacRae (Felix Geisel), Melissa Regamble (Inspector Goring) and Talia Wollf (Aggie Wheeler).

The play, 13 show times in all, can be enjoyed on its own or with a full three-course meal, served buffet style at Theatre in the Country's space, 5708 Glover Rd. Tickets are sold on , or call 604-259-9737.

"Theatre in the Country is not fully licensed," the website notes, "but we serve alcohol at all of our Opening & Closing Nights or join us on Fine Wine Fridays for local wine, cider or beer."

Looking ahead, Theatre in the Country will stage Mary Poppins: The Broadway Musical starting Nov. 27. The company is also producing , a murder game event, on Oct. 25-26.
