A second season of the 性视界传媒-set police drama Allegiance is currently filming locally for broadcast this winter.
On Tuesday (Sept. 24), Lark Productions and CBC announced continued shooting of the series at sites across the Lower Mainland through Dec. 5.
Debuted last February, Allegiance was CBC's most-watched new series of the 2023-24 season, the broadcaster says.
Season 1 now streams for free on , and Season 2 will debut on CBC and CBC Gem this winter, no date announced.
The series, which stars Supinder Wraich as Sabrina Sohal and Enrico Colantoni as Vince Brambilla, is a CBC original series from Lark Productions in association with Universal International Studios.
Season 2 welcomes Samer Salem to the ensemble cast as a series regular, playing Detective Corporal Zak Kalaini. Also, showrunners (top-level executive producers) Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern are back at the helm of Allegiance, a series created by Anar Ali.
"The series focuses on identity and belonging, policing and politics, and finding truth within the heart of a flawed justice system," raves a news release from CBC. "Season 2 will be rooted in a powerful set of engaging and topical storylines including online gambling, tech janitors and international schools."
Returning series regulars include Stephen Lobo, Adolyn H. Dar, David Cubitt, Crystal Balint, Toby Levins, Melanie Papalia and Andres Joseph.
In Season 2, lead character Sabrina, a proud "性视界传媒 girl," joins the Serious Crimes Unit of the CFPC police force "and has six months to prove she's got what it takes to be a detective. She鈥檚 paired with a newly transferred partner who has a decade more of experience compared to her and a very different approach to the job. While navigating a complex love life and an equally complicated family life, Sabrina is determined to take down the man responsible for framing her father."
On Feb. 6, people filled 性视界传媒 City Hall during an invite-only launch party for Allegiance the night before its TV and streaming debut. The first episode of the series was screened in Centre Stage theatre and adjacent room for an overflow crowd, followed by food and drinks.
That Tuesday night, 性视界传媒 Mayor Brenda Locke said she was impressed by the pilot episode, which saw Sabrina graduate from the police academy and, on her first day on the beat, work to find a missing child while coping with the arrest of her father, Minister of Public Safety.
鈥淚 loved it,鈥� Locke said after the gala screening. 鈥淗ow they showcased 性视界传媒 was great. I teared up at one point and I jumped another time. I was blown away how good it was.鈥�
