The Legion hall in Crescent Beach has become a go-to place for rock music from the past.
Tribute bands are weekend highlights on the calendar at South 性视界传媒's thanks to Eric McCauley's Good Time Bookings.
"It's a great place for this, and we're really busy with shows," McCauley raved Nov. 23 during Live Wire's headlining set of Motley Crue songs from singer Vanessa Cheratnik, guitarist Pat Mars, drummer Steve Wong and bass player Krispian Emert. To open the night, their Hot For Teacher band lit up the room with Van Halen covers.
Middle-set band played Alice in Chains hits with equal firepower and precision, the kind I was lucky to experience in December 1992 when Layne Staley and pals on their Dirt tour. The East Van grunge band features players involved in several other projects including vocalist Danny Echo (Danny Echo, Swimming Hammers, The Walk-Ins), guitarist Sasha Chrosciewicz, Ry Somerton (Golers, Car 87) and drummer Nicky Stix (Day Of The Dog).
That Saturday night at Club 240 "was a lot of fun for us, great audience and energy there," Echo told me.
December gigs on the Club 240 calendar () include Rolling Stones and Adele tributes on , (Honky Tonk Woman with Kristina Romankova as Adele & local support from Earia), a night of music by featuring The Unknown Soldiers, KISS tribute on Dec. 20 and also (music of Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac) on Dec. 27.
