Broadway Across Canada is busy booking musicals for the stage at Queen Elizabeth Theatre into 2025.
This month the company announced dates for both SIX and Riverdance 30: The Next Generation at the Vancouver venue next May and June, respectively, with tickets sold on starting Monday, Dec. 16 (for SIX) and Friday, Dec. 20 (Riverdance). Also on the calendar are Beetlejuice (in January), TINA: The Tina Turner Musical (March) and Disney's The Lion King (August/September).
A new anniversary production of the Irish dance phenomenon, Riverdance 30: The Next Generation will star performers not yet born when the show launched 30 years ago.
Meantime, the award-winning SIX sounds interesting, as the wives of King Henry VIII "take the microphone to remix 500 years of historical heartbreak into a euphoric celebration of 21st-century girl power," Broadway Across Canada raves. The six (Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr) take turns telling their story to determine who suffered the most from their shared husband.
TINA, of course, charts the legendary pop-music comeback story of Tina Turner, portrayed on stage by singer-songwriter Jayna Elise (formerly Jayna Brown), a finalist on both America鈥檚 Got Talent and American Idol TV shows.
