In a month-long countdown to the concerts of , a weekly series of shows will feature local musicians at the Delta brewery, on 60 Avenue.

From from Sept. 13-15, Paterson Park in Ladner will be busy again with three full days of live music on three stages featuring Canadian rock bands The Glorious Sons, Sam Roberts Band, Loverboy, The Trews, Sloan, Wide Mouth Mason and more.

Until then, a few of the festival's featured musicians will perform Wednesday evenings at the brewery, 7 to 9 p.m., $5 cover.

The intimate concerts kicked off Aug. 8 with Alberta-raised and All The King's Men, a band that features festival booker John Donnelly on bass. Next up are Justine Lynn and Freeborn Soul (Aug. 14), Bryce Malenstyn and Generous Thieves (Aug. 21) and Nikolaj and Matt & Matt from The Matinee (Aug. 28).

Last year's inaugural Barnside music festival attracted more than 23,400 ticket-holders to Paterson Park, located at highways 10 and 17A.

"We couldn't be happier with the response from the community," Donnelly told me. "I think people really embraced the festival as their own here in Delta, and across the region, really.

"We're on our way to 30,000 people this year, and we're thrilled with that growth," he added. "It's a big site, so I don't think we'll get to a sell-out. You could put Coldplay there and get 40,000 people, there's lots of room."

Barnside Brewing operator Ken Malenstyn said it's amazing to see so much musical talent perform in Delta.

"I think people are really excited about the breadth of the lineup," he said. "There are deep lineups every day, top bands daily, at all times, with a mix of artists that people might not know about, which is important for us too."

Donnelly said the festival organizing team is working to fix issues of cellphone/wifi reception at the site, along with setting up additional booths for beverage sales.

Other bands for 2024 include Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters, Doc Walker, Toque, Odds, Couch, Yukon Blonde, Jojo Mason, Carsen Gray, XL the Band, Ashleigh Ball and more. For tickets and details, visit .
