A Chilliwack man was sentenced to 12 years in jail after pleading guilty to multiple drug and firearms offences.
Alan Boyarski was convicted of two counts of drug trafficking, and five counts of firearms-related offences. He was sentenced in court on Nov. 27.
鈥淭his conviction is a direct result of the commitment of the Chilliwack Drugs and Organized Crime Unit to combat organized crime and drug trafficking in our community,鈥 said Insp. Jeff Bowerman of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. 鈥淲e will continue to target those individuals who traffic illegal drugs and firearms to protect the safety of our community."
The sentencing came after multiple search warrants and investigations dating back two and a half years.
, Chilliwack RCMP arrested two Chilliwack men for drug-trafficking related charges, which led to two search warrants and the seizure of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine, plus a large quantity of cash, loaded handgun, ammunition, silencers, and additional firearms.
As part of this investigation, police executed search warrants at residences in the 8100 block of Young Road and the 9000 block of Garden Drive.
"During these search warrants, police seized large quantities of suspected drugs, drug packaging, scales, and cash in addition, firearms including two handguns and four long guns," RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Carmen Kiener stated in a press release on Dec. 5.
In an , Chilliwack RCMP named 44-year-old Boyarski and 33-year-old Karly Bonnet as two people arrested and charged.
Following these arrests and seizures, police continued to gather evidence of continued offences involving the same individuals. As a result, additional search warrants were executed at the same Garden Drive residence and the same man and woman were once again arrested.
Then on , local drug section officers executed two search warrants as part of this "complex" investigation at a residence in the 9000 block of Garden Drive, as well as a storage locker on Industrial Way in Chilliwack, RCMP said.
Boyarski's 12-year sentence works out to 10 years and 76 days, after time served.
