性视界传媒 City Hall is branching out to make new workspace for its workforce.
City council awarded a $1,494,262.59 contract to Willow Spring Construction (BC) Ltd. on Dec. 16, with a spending limit set at $1,643,688.85, for an "Operations Building Tenant Improvement" project that will produce 130 new workspaces at the City鈥檚 Operations Centre at 6651 148 St.
"This expansion will facilitate the relocation of staff from the Bylaws Division and the Social Infrastructure and Community Investment Department, optimizing their
operational efficiency and enhancing customer service delivery," Joey Brar, 性视界传媒's general manager of corporate services, told council in a
Brar noted that about 850 employees work at 性视界传媒 City Hall at 13450 104 Ave., which opened in 2014.
"The City鈥檚 population has grown substantially, necessitating an increase in staffing levels to meet evolving community
needs," his report reads. "Given the projected continued growth of 性视界传媒鈥檚 population, further expansion of staff
capacity is essential."
Brar said in order to address current and future operational needs city staff evaluated "space-planning
strategies" that include leasing office space, constructing a new building, flexible work options and "densifying current civic buildings."
"Considering factors such as long-term costs, service delivery efficiency, operational effectiveness,
and implementation timelines, densifying existing civic buildings emerged as the most practical
and cost-effective solution for the foreseeable future," he advised council.
The project will also see public safety city staff relocated who are working out of leased space at the Civic Hotel next to City Hall, "resulting in annual savings of approximately $250,000.
"The scope of work for this project includes general supervision, labour, materials, equipment,
transportation, insurance, and all necessary services for the construction and renovation at the
Operations Centre."
The work is set to begin Jan. 6 with a targeted completion date of May 30.
