Saturday: What to see, do, hear & eat at Car Free Day 性视界传媒, first of 8 in region

In Metro Vancouver, Car Free Days have expanded from a single event in 2005 to eight such festivals during the spring and summer of 2024.

First up Saturday (June 8) is in Newton, where 137 Street will be closed to traffic south of 74 Avenue. Admission is free from noon to 8 p.m.

The third annual street festival encourages people to leave vehicles at home for a day of live music, DJs and dance battles, food, vendors and family-friendly fun.

this year are Latin fusion group Los Duendes (7 p.m. set), reggae band Gisto and the Grateful Living, Matt Cook-Contois & Eric Severinson, Matt Hermano, hip-hop artist Peak (6 p.m. set), Rebecca Sichon (5 p.m.), Vanessa Mood and Victoria Groff. for the entertainment schedule.

Food vendors include The Taco Tigre, Tornado Potato, MomoJoy, Mahshiko, Kampong Taste of Malaysia, Hugs Mini Donuts, The Little Snowflake Factory and Gary鈥檚 Kettle Corn.

Acts in the Kid Zone are Yuki the Juggler, national Yo-Yo champ Terrance Wang and Magical Kingdom Sing & Dance-Along, along with face painting, balloon twisting, bounce house, mini golf and more.

The Dance Stage promises entertainment by Sullivan Heights Dance, Panorama Dance and breakdance battles with DJ A-Slam and Tabletutors.

罢谤补苍蝉尝颈苍办鈥檚 can help get you to the 性视界传媒 festival site, and a free BEST Bike Valet will be located near the stage at 74 Avenue. Consider Modo, ride-share and car-pool options, as parking will be limited. Streets will be closed from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

In the region, other Car Free Day events are held in New Westminster (July 26), Port Moody (Aug. 18), Port Coquitlam (Sept. 7), Commercial Drive in Vancouver (Sept. 8), Maple Ridge (Sept. 14), Main Street in Vancouver (Sept. 15) and North Vancouver (Sept. 21). Details are posted on .
