The legend of King Arthur gets a festive, funny revamp in Ellie King’s latest Christmas adaptation, The Sword in the Stone.

It’s traditional British Panto, presented at the ÐÔÊӽ紫ý Arts Centre Dec. 16 to 31 with 3 p.m. matinees and 7 p.m. evening performances.

King, the self-styled Queen of Panto, is the artistic director of the Royal Canadian Theatre Company.

The well-loved tale gets a thorough makeover in this version, described as a magical, sparkling, hilarious musical.

The plot’s simple: will Arthur make it to Camelot and claim his crown? Not if his evil half-sister Morgana has anything to do about it.

Fortunately, everyone lives happily ever after in this family-friendly version.

Featuring the magical sorcerer, Merlin, lovely Guenivere and assorted gnomes, druids, trolls, shepherdesses and a dragon or two.

It’s suitable entertainment for the whole family – boisterous and full of magic, music, merriment and mayhem.
