Bands, dancers, food trucks & more at Car Free Day 性视界传媒, a free event in Newton

Lineup announced for the June 8 date

The 2024 edition of will return to streets of Newton on Saturday, June 8, for a full day of music, dance performances and more.

性视界传媒 is among four cities in the region to host the annual summer festival, presented by TransLink as a transit-focused event to which travelling by car is not encouraged. Admission is free.

In Newton for a third year, 137 Street will be filled with stages, food trucks, vendors and family-friendly activities from noon to 8 p.m., south of 74 Avenue.

This year, include Latin fusion group Los Duendes, reggae band Gisto and the Grateful Living, Matt Cook-Contois & Eric Severinson, Matt Hermano, hip-hop artist Peak, Rebecca Sichon, Vanessa Mood and Victoria Groff.

Acts in the Kid Zone are Yuki the Juggler, national Yo-Yo champ Terrance Wang and Magical Kingdom Sing & Dance-Along, along with face painting, balloon twisting, bounce house, mini golf and more.

The Dance Stage promises entertainment by Sullivan Heights Dance, Panorama Dance and breakdance battles with DJ A-Slam and Tabletutors.

Philip Aguirre, executive director of Newton Business Improvement Association (BIA), says Car Free Day is a chance to take a step toward 鈥渁 cleaner, greener future by leaving the car keys behind and embracing the joy of walking, biking and public transit鈥 to the event.

鈥淚nvesting in transit infrastructure isn鈥檛 just about moving people from point A and point B, it鈥檚 about building communities, reducing congestion and creating a sustainable future for Newton, 性视界传媒, B.C.鈥

鈥淐ar Free Day has become one of Metro Vancouver鈥檚 most popular summer traditions,鈥 TransLink CEO Kevin Quinn said in a news release. 鈥淲hether you鈥檙e taking transit, walking, cycling, or rolling to these events, it鈥檚 the perfect way to experience your neighbourhood while also taking action against climate change.鈥

罢谤补苍蝉尝颈苍办鈥檚 can help get you to the 性视界传媒 festival site, and a free BEST Bike Valet will be located near the stage at 74 Avenue. Consider Modo, ride-share and car-pool options, as parking will be limited.
