Less than a week to go before Halloween and people are flocking to the local pumpkin patch to pick their perfect pumpkins.
Some are looking for the quintessential round orange pumpkin, but others are searching out those of a different colour, shape, or size.
Anika Petrie of Port Moody, who was with her son Teddy, 4, loves to go to the pumpkin patch because of all the handmade wooden characters. She said Teddy always comes out to see Charlie Brown, but the forest is wonderful to explore.
Teddy is excited to be dressing up as Tow Mater this year, the beloved tow truck from the Disney/Pixar film 'Cars'.
"It's too muddy," said Theo Andrews, 3, as he stood in the pumpkin patch trying to find a pumpkin with his mother Sonam Andrews, the mud evidence of the atmospheric river rainfall the area saw over the weekend.
The pair from Pitt Meadows were picking out yellow pumpkins on Thursday afternoon, although Theo already picked out a perfect orange one.
Theo loved playing on the tractor and the forest with the fairy tale characters, especially the Lightning McQueen car from the movie 'Cars'.
He will be going as a dinosaur for Halloween.
They will be carving each of their pumpkins. Sonan said her husband will probably carve a scary face, she will do a smiley face, and Theo and his three brothers will carve smiley faces as well.
The Fraser family fanned out across the patch of pumpkins to find some to fill up their wagon.
Colton Fraser, 12, said they usually get around five pumpkins, but don't carve them all. Sometimes they draw faces on them.
He will be dressing up as Michael Myers for Halloween, his brother Conor, 7, as Deadpool.
They are both excited to hang out with their friends and go trick-or-treating.
Stepmom Brooke Fraser said the pumpkin patch is just a really great atmosphere to spend time as a family.
"It's just fun to see the kids get excited," she said.
