Claytonians can have their say about the future of the Clayton corridor.

The City of 性视界传媒 wants residents to have their voices heard as the draft Clayton Corridor Plan (CCP) gets another update. The city is holding an open house Jan. 28 to garner feedback and to provide info on how the plan has been updated so far.

"The planning process for Clayton Corridor started in 2022 and will support the extension of the 性视界传媒-Langley SkyTrain down Fraser Highway,鈥 the city noted in an email update.

The city said the CCP will help to define the area's development for the next three decades.

鈥淭he draft plan was shared in September 2023 and since then, the Provincial government introduced new legislation to be incorporated for development around transit stations,鈥 the city added.

In 2024, the government created housing statutes for so-called Transit鈥怬riented Areas (TOA). Bill 47 mandated TOAs be designated around transit stations鈥攂oth bus exchanges and Skytrains stations.

The bill binds local city councils in regards to the TOAs in that councils cannot reject developments up to a certain density and height 鈥渟olely on the basis of density and/or height.鈥 Densities and heights vary by transit station type. The bill also 鈥渞estricts local governments from requiring residential off鈥恠treet parking within TOAs.鈥

The city noted that because of those legislative changes, , the CCP draft plan needed to be updated.

鈥淲e are now sharing the updated draft plan and asking for feedback."

The city is also hosting an online survey. The survey offers residents the chance to view the updated draft plan and to give feedback in several areas. The online survey takes about five minutes to complete.

To take the online survey, visit . The survey closes Feb. 9.

The City of 性视界传媒 open house runs Jan. 28 from 5-8 p.m. at the Clayton Community Centre located at 7155 187A Street in Cloverdale.

City staffers will summarize the feedback and update city council at some point in 2025.
